In 2026, things began to change. Governments around the world have moved from debate to action. At <strong>Altanet Craiova<\/strong> We believe it is important to be aware of these changes \u2013 because they directly affect how companies can use AI and what responsibilities they have towards users.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0088cc;\"><strong>The European Union AI Regulation \u2013 the world&#039;s first comprehensive legal framework<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Europe took the first step. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu\/en\/policies\/european-approach-artificial-intelligence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU AI Regulation<\/a><\/strong> (also known as the AI Act) is the first complete legal framework dedicated to artificial intelligence in the world and is in active implementation in 2026. The basic principles are three:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Transparency:<\/strong> Companies using AI must inform users when they are interacting with an automated system, not a real person.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Audit:<\/strong> AI systems used in critical fields \u2013 medicine, justice, employment \u2013 must be verified and certified before being launched.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Responsibility:<\/strong> If an AI system causes harm, there must be a person or company that is legally responsible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The regulation classifies AI systems into four risk categories \u2013 minimal, limited, high and unacceptable \u2013 and imposes different obligations for each category. Systems with unacceptable risk, such as those for mass surveillance or those that manipulate human behavior, are banned completely.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is happening in the USA?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Unlike Europe, the US has yet to pass a federal law dedicated to AI. Instead, the situation is fragmented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>California<\/strong> adopted the first law regulating frontier AI models \u2013 that is, the most powerful and capable models in the world.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Trump administration<\/strong> issued an executive order blocking US states from enacting their own laws on AI, attempting to keep regulation at the federal level.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Court proceedings<\/strong> have begun to define the legal boundaries. The most anticipated trial of 2026: the family of a teenager who committed suicide will sue <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OpenAI<\/a> in November, for the first
