SCADA is the abbreviation for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition.
The term refers to a comprehensive measurement and control system.
SCADA automation is used to monitor or control chemical, physical or transportation processes.
Components of the SCADA system
The three components of the SCADA system are:
- More RTUs (RTU – Remote Terminal Units – (Remote Terminal Unit))
- Several PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers (Pogrammable Logic Controller)).
- Master Station and HMI Computer(s) (The HMI/SCADA package usually includes a drawing program that the operator or maintenance personnel uses to change the way points are represented in the user interface).
- Communication infrastructure.
